Rosa

Hmm. Rosa. This was meant to be one of those quite-boring-to-do-but- oh-so-lovely-to-wear projects: acres of stocking stitch and yards of ruffles to knit, but with the prospect of wearing such a cute top at the end. But it’s not quite working out like I planned. For some reason I just CAN NOT get an even tension on the stocking stitch.

It’s not even as simple as my knit tension being different to my purl tension – sometimes the knit rows are looser than the purl rows, but sometimes it’s the other way round – aah! I also have loose stitches at the beginning of each row. My frustration with this has grown and grown, and this is how it has ended up:

Back In The Box Where It Came From. I need to make a decision about this. I could rip it and start again, continue and hope that blocking improves it, or just stick it at the back of my cupboard and pretend I’d never encountered it at all. The latter sounds tempting right now…

  • Oh, but it’s so cute! You could try putting the live stitches on a piece of waste yarn and blocking what you’ve knitted so far and see what happens. Then you don’t have to wonder.

  • Oh you sound just like me. I can almost hear you stamping your feet from here. I’d say give it another go. Is the size still ok? I’m sure the blocking will even out the stitches. And anyway, I want to see it so you have to knit it! No pressure or anything. :D
