… to our garden: two espalier apple trees.

Will’s favourite variety, Cox’s Pippin, and Alex’s choice, Red Falstaff.

Steve hard at work planting them:

And here the little beauties are! We really hope they fruit this year!

This is our mini starter vegetable plot. It used to be a small patio and we thought it would make a great raised bed, in the sunniest part of the garden. But it is much too small. This winter I’m going to design a pretty parterre that will take about four times as much space as this.

I am quite jealous of you now! I’d love to have espaliered trees.
gosh I love the look of your garden. It’s just lovely – and do you have to buy varieties than lend themselves to espalier or can you espalier any variety? We’ve been thinking about it.
will they really fruit that fast? i’ve always just guessed they take years.
your “starter” veggie plot looks great
I would love to add some fruit to ours next year, maybe some melons and strawberries and maybe apples too!
I love the look of espaliered trees. We used to have a quince but we moved and it was too big to dig up, I did consider it though. You actually might get fruit this year, they look like they have a lot of flowers for their size. We have a columnar apple tree that was here when we bought the house and it gets a lot of fruit but the squirrels eat all of them.
Oooh, I’m jealous of your garden! We need to get our tomatoes in the ground or we won’t have any this year!
